General
summary of items to accomplish for RVSM compliance and
operational authorization.
- Reserve
a RVSM completion slot for your aircraft.
- Contact
your local FAA Flight Standards District Office
(FSDO) or Certification Management Office (CMO)
to arrange a pre-application meeting to discuss
requirements for approval.
- Approximately
60 days in advance of the intended start of RVSM
operations, submit an application to FSDO or CMO
for operational approval.
- The
installed autopilot must conform to manufacturer's
operational specifications and operate within the
tolerances required by RVSM operations - conduct
operational test flight and correct any discrepancies
that don't allow for RVSM compliant operation.
- The
aircraft's Pitot/Static system must not have leaks
in excess of that required for RVSM operation -
leak test Pitot/Static System and correct any discrepancies
that don't allow for RVSM compliant operation.
- The
aircraft's fuselage skins around Static Ports must
not have skin waviness in excess of that required
for RVSM operation- perform Static Port Skin Waviness
test and correct any discrepancies that don't allow
for RVSM compliant operation.
- RVSM
modifications completed on the aircraft.
- GPS-based
Ground Monitoring Unit (GMU) test flight must be
conducted by FAA approved company. The selected
company submits the test results directly to the
FAA.
- Operator
must complete RVSM Operational training through
an approved provider.
- LOA
for RVSM operations must be received from Aircraft
Owner's local FSDO or CMO prior to starting RVSM
Operations.
